Jed Antoun Named To Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Preseason All-Rookie Team.

July 3, 2008

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond freshman Jed Antoun was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference Preseason All-Rookie Team in voting conducted among the league's coaches.

Antoun is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound midfielder from Lewisville Texas who will begin his career with the Spiders this fall. The four-year starter and letterwinner at Prince of Peace Christian High scored 21 goals and had 22 assists for 64 points as a senior. He was a two-time First-Team All-State selection, while earning Second-Team All-State as a sophomore and Honorable Mention All-State as a freshmen.

"Jed comes from a great pedigree, his father is a coach, he played for a great club team and he was very successful with his high school team," Richmond head coach Jeff Gettler said. "We expect him to contribute right away for us."

Antoun was a four-time first-team all-district pick and was named the district's MVP as a junior. He led Prince of Peace to four district titles and three Texas Association of Private and Parochial School State Championships. Prince of Peace suffered just three losses during Antoun's four-year career.

He played club soccer for Solar 90 Blue, helping the team to titles at the Tampa Bay Sun Bowl, Games Of America Tournament and Plano Labor Day Tournament. Antoun also played varsity football as a senior, earning all-district and All-State Honorable Mention as a punter and free safety. He was a four-year letterwinner on the track & field team, earning Second-Team All_State honors in the 400-meter dash and long jump.

The Spiders open up the 2008 season on Aug. 29 at Lehigh.
