MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - Wofford shot an opening-round 295 and has a three-shot lead over Columbia after the first round of the Spider Fall Invitational played at Independence Country Club.

Columbia's Stevy Loy and Wofford's Alex Rankin are the leaders in the clubhouse, tied at 2-under-par 70 on the 6,118-yard course. The second and final round will be played Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Columbia is in second out of 14 teams at 298, followed by Longwood and Maryland tied for third at 305 and the host Spiders tied for fifth with William & Mary at 309.

Richmond sophomore Jillian Fraccola is in a three-way tie for sixth at 2-over 74 after shooting a 37 on both the front and back nine. Richmond freshman Jackie Evans, playing in just her second collegiate event, is in a tie for 14th at 5-over 77.

Juniors Lauren Folgosa and Anne Sprick, and sophomore Christina Gray are tied for 29th at 7-over 79.

Playing as individuals, Richmond senior Rosario Germino is tied for 64th at 85 and junior Victoria Kidder is tied for 67th with an 87.
