UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond Women's Soccer team earned it's tenth consecutive National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, awarded for "exceptional academic performance as a team for the year 2007". The fall semester of 2007 was one of the best ever for Spiders in the classroom, with 21 women's soccer players earning over a 3.0 GPA and an overall team GPA of 3.22.

"We are really proud of the job that our players do in the classroom. This award represents a lot of hard work and a strong commitment to academic excellence on the part of our student athletes." said Head Coach Peter Albright

Richmond women's soccer is coming off a successful 2007 season. The Spiders earned a spot in the Atlantic 10 tournament where they beat Duquesne in the first round to face off against 2006 champion, Charlotte. The 49ers went on to win a second-straight title.
