  • 2009 SCHEDULE | DIRECTIONS TO UKROP PARK

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond women's soccer team will host eight games to be played at Ukrop Park at Chippenham Parkway and Route 10 this fall. The Spiders will be on the road for eight games and play in two tournaments at Longwood and VCU.

The Spiders open their 2009 season at in-state rival JMU, before hosting Hofstra at 7 pm on the Richmond Intramural fields. Richmond then travels to American before participating in the Longwood and VCU Tournaments. The Spiders face off against Charleston Southern in the first round of the Longwood Tournament before competing against Coastal Carolina two days later.

The Spiders face Eastern Michigan in the first round of the VCU Tournament before squaring off versus the in-city rival, VCU Rams.

"This is a schedule that will help meet the challenge of preparing our team for A-10 play," said head coach Peter Albright. "We are playing teams who are talented and athletic, and who fight hard. I expect the 2009 Spiders to be very young and very athletic. I think that this schedule, with its varied playing styles, will well prepare us for the demands of the league play."

Richmond hosts Davidson and Longwood before opening conference play at home Sept. 25th versus the Fordham Rams. The Spiders play in five home conference games, while six are away.

"We are looking forward to playing our home games at the new Ukrop Park at Chippenham Parkway and Route 10," said Albright. "Only 15 minutes from campus, this facility provides us with an excellent venue to play our home matches during the renovation of First Market Stadium."

The A-10 Tournament will begin Nov. 5th in Charlotte, N.C.
