Siben's 100 Fly Silver Highlights Day Two Of Terrapin Cup

Nov. 21, 2008

Live Scoring & Results

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Richmond swimming and diving team rolled into day two of the Terrapin Cup on Friday evening and junior Katie Sieben posted the Spiders' best performance of the session - a second-place finish in the 100 fly. Richmond is seventh heading into Saturday.

Sieben's time in the 100 fly of 55.34 was a season-low for the junior, and good for the silver medal. She also swam on the seventh-place 200 medley relay (1:47.13) with sophomore Nicole LePere, freshman Mary Anne Lerro and freshman Charlotte Brackett.

"Katie swam well," said head coach Matt Barany. "But she had hopes of going an unrested :54. She looked sharp, yet she made a mistake on one wall. Nicole (LePere) and Alex (Helland) also improved on their season-best backstroke times today."

The Spiders' 800 free relay also grabbed seventh-place in a time of 7:50.21, with sophomore Elizabeth Hailand, sophomore Chrissy Brodt, Brackett and sophomore Natalie Lewis on the relay.

LePere swam to a 12th-place finish in the 100 back in a time of 57.74. She was followed by junior Alex Helland in 17th (58.59), Brackett in 21st (59.50) and Hailand in 24th (1:00.41).

Senior Lauren Beaudreau was 16th in the 100 breast (1:08.74), while junior Beth Ann Platt was 16th in the 400 IM (4:40.64).

Action concludes at the 2008 Terrapin Cup, hosted by the University of Maryland, on Saturday in College Park, Md.
