UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – After 22 seasons at the helm of the University of Richmond women's soccer program, Head Coach Peter Albright has resigned.
Â
"We would like to thank Coach Albright for all he has done for both the Richmond women's soccer program and the Richmond Athletic Department as a whole during his 22 years of service," Interim Athletic Director David Walsh said. "We appreciate everything he put into building the program, and wish him nothing but the best moving forward."
Â
"I am incredibly grateful to the University of Richmond for allowing me to spend a big part of my career here, raising my family as part of this community and doing a job that I love." Albright said. "The bonds, friendships and experiences that I've enjoyed over the years have enriched my life in too many ways to mention. I look forward to watching the incredible young women of UR accomplish great things in the future, and it has been my great honor and privilege to serve them for all these years."
Â
The only head coach in Spider women's soccer history, Albright lead the program to a 198-220-36 overall record and a 98-99-17 mark in conference play as a part of the Colonial Athletic Conference and Atlantic 10.
Â
Albright led the Spiders to the 2002 Atlantic 10 Tournament title and NCAA tournament appearances in 2000 and 2002. He has coached four All-Americans, three Freshman All-Americans and 40 All-Conference honorees while at Richmond.
Â
A national search Albright's successor will begin immediately.
